Interested in running for office?

To get started please checkout the North Carolina Campaign Finance Manual. This manual will assist you with becoming more familiar with campaign finance laws and procedures.
Once you have decided to run, you should file a Statement of Organization creating your political committee. This will allow you to receive contributions and/or make expenditures. Please complete one of the two documents below depending on the amount of money you plan to spend and receive:
- Statement of Organization - Over Threshold ($1,000 or more)
- Statement of Organization - Under Threshold ($999.99 and less)
- Before completing the above forms please contact Dustin Elliott at 704-336-2133 at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections to ensure that forms are completed properly and to answer any additional questions. Statement of Organizations should be filed with the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections
- You must appoint a treasurer. All treasurer must have completed a training. Attached is a flier with details

Offices on the 2010 Ballot
Filing for all offices except Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor for the 2010 Elections begins Monday February 8, 2010 at noon and closes Friday February 26, 2010 at noon. Click here for a list of the filing fees.
